If you come across the similar situation that WhatsApp can't connect to the internet (Wi-Fi or 4G), this article may help you to make WhatsApp back to normal.
Make sure the following is correct first:
- You've turned on Wi-Fi or Cellular data.
- You're in the good network environment.
- You've allowed WhatsApp runs on Wi-Fi or Cellular. iPhone or iPad users check it by opening Settings > WhatsApp > Wireless Data. Samsung, Sony or other Android users should go to Settings > Apps > WhatsApp > Permissions > Turn on mobile network/Wi-Fi.

Solution 1: Force Stop WhatsApp and Restart Your Device
According to users, one of the most effective ways to recover WhatsApp is to force it to stop. It doesn't mean to simply exit it.
iPhone/iPad users should double-click the Home button, and get the recently used apps' list. Find out WhatsApp and swipe it up to close it, and then restart your device.
When the Apple logo appears and stays on the screen for about 30 seconds, the device is put itself into rebooting. The process is finished when the standard locked screen shows.

Solution 2: Clear Cache and Data in Android
